Project
Management
In industrialised countries the organic sector has developed primarily because of increasing interest among consumers and farmers in environmentally friendly farming systems and food free from pesticide residues and unnecessary additives.
In many so-called developing countries, organic sector development is often driven by internationally funded project support. Some international donors support organic farming in developing countries because of its potential in improving farm systems applied by small holders, for instance by making the farm systems more stable and less dependent on external inputs.
In Denmark, the organic sector is relatively well developed. Several organic products are available through supermarkets, which are by far the most used retail sales channel in Denmark. On the other hand, production and sales of Danish medicinal herbs and spices are very limited. However, interest in developing the sector for medicinal herbs and spices is increasing, and some projects have been initiated with just that purpose.
BIOService offers advice on project identification, formulation of project applications, including time plans and budgets, reporting and project management. |
